Craigslisting: Spring Edition

With the onset of warmer weather, that mean's that tag sale season should be ramping up!!  Who's excited??  That's right, this girl!  There was only one last week that I stopped at, I'm hoping there will be more in the coming weeks. In order to get us all excited for some amazing tag sale treasures, I thought it was time for another Craigslist Treasure Hunt!

craiglist antique fridge

Let start with this working vintage GE fridge for $150.  Not an amazing steal, but it looks like it's in pretty nice condition and I just love those lines.  I wouldn't be so bold as to put it in a kitchen (although I've seen it done and it can be amazing), I'd actually put this in a game room or basement hang-out.  Refreshments for all!

craiglist cast iron sink

This cast iron sink is FREE if you take it with a pile of wood.  In fact, if you want the wood, you MUST take the sink.  What??  I know you're probably thinking that I'm crazy here, but I practically die over these sinks.

Do you think I'm crazy now?

Getting back to Craigslist... Let's go Mid Century Modern on your space:

craigslist MCM bar cabinet

$75 for this MCM liquor cabinet could go either way.  It's a neat piece, certainly, and would add some style to a space, but quality might be questionable.  Due to the poor photo quality on the listing, I'm not sure if this is actually wood or laminate... if it was wood, $75 is an awesome deal!  laminate? meh.  I'd hold off.

craigslist MCM bar stools

If you just want to add a small touch of MCM to your space, can I suggest these bar stools?  3 for $60.  The black is a little masculine for my taste, but with a new fabric, I'm sold!

Lastly:

Craigslist ethan allen blue sofa

$300 might be a bit steep for this Ethan Allen sofa in my opinion, but it has tons of potential.  I simply adore the line of the back and the tailored tufting.  If you can work the blue into your space, this could be an unbeatable deal.  I would definitely recommend, however, removing that skirt (like I did here).  With a little leg showing, she'd be a show-stopper.  Ideally, I'd love to reupholster this in a textural neutral, but at $300 it might be a bit pricy for that.

As always, I like to assure you that our local craigslist isn't all amazing deals, sunshine and butterflies... you can also get a gorilla costume HEAD, standard issue hand cuffs, or dentures....  I think I'll stick to the furniture and architectural salvage...

Have you gotten any amazing finds on craigslist lately?

Craigslisting

I'm very impatient.  Of the 3 showings Frankie had yesterday, we've only gotten feedback from one (pretty decent review).  I'm hoping the lack of reviews from the others means they're working on their offers.  A girl can dream, right? Speaking of dreaming, I've been perusing my local Boston Craigslist again- never a safe pastime.  Unless something is beyond perfect, I can't justify adding another item to our tiny, already filled home, so I'll just daydream about the amazing rooms these pieces could go in.

If I didn't already know that my dining room can't handle a piece of this size, you can bet your bum I'd be taking this 1948 hutch home.  At $100 it's an amazing price for a beautiful piece that doesn't look like it needs any work.  Quick, I need a client room so I can design a space around this!!!

cl 1948 cabinet

And speaking of pieces that I NEED.... I'm really trying to talk myself out of this one.  Alas, I shouldn't buy it, since we already have a bar cart and no space for another.  But it's an amazing price- $75 for a beautiful bar cart- please go buy it so I can live vicariously through you!  If you buy it, I'll even style it for you.

cl brass bar cart

This little Persian rug would be a nice addition to almost any entryway.  Mix it with some more modern pieces and it'll lend a classic, collected look to the space.  Although not a steal, still a pretty good deal at $100.

persian rug

This FREE sofa could definitely use to be reupholstered, which isn't cheap, but once complete, this would be an awesome sofa and still be less than comparable new sofas.  Just picture it: remove the skirt and arm covers and reupholster it in a crisp gray linen- timeless.

cl mod sofa

Not a home run at $60 (a bit overpriced if you ask me), I would LOVE to see this antique iron chair frame brought back to life.  The shape is so interesting- it just screams garden party!

cl iron chair

And just for proof that people will put anything on craigslist and prices are sometime beyond ridiculous, can I interest you in a creepy metal mask for.... $300??  What the WHAT??

cl ugly mask

And now that I've scarred you for life.... have you seen any fun/scary/awesome deals on craigslist lately?

Craigslist Window Shopping

It's been a while since I shared with you some of the wonders that Craigslist has to offer, and there certainly are some awesome finds currently here in the Boston area. craigslist mid century instamatic corner unit

At $200, this Mid Century Modern Motorola Insta-matic corner unit is certainly not a steal, but not a ridiculous price either.  The seller here was very smart and suggested this be reworked into a corner bar.  I think I'd be sad to see the tv go, but the shape of it is what really charms me anyway- like those legs, hubba hubba!

safari campain chairs

Can someone please go buy these Safari chairs?  I don't need them, have no place for them, and they aren't particularly my style, but for that price, someone needs to rescue them and put them in an amazing room.  Looks like they could use reuphostering or at the very least a DEEP clean, but these guys are just chic.  Emily Henderson could work magic with these chairs!

vinyl and chrome swivel dining chairs

These are not normally what I gravitate to, but I can totally picture this set (reupholstered to match) sitting around a rather traditional wooden dining table with turned legs.  The chrome and curves would be such an unexpected juxtaposition next to a table like that, but I know it would be amazing.  Six for $300 makes them $50 a piece which is actually pretty reasonable before you factor in reupholstery.

carved wood sofa set

Now THIS is what I'm usually drawn to, and I really really wish I had a storage unit for these guys.  That way I could hoard them away until I had the right room, client, or project.  I hope they don't go to waste, it might make me cry.  For $150, you get the sofa, loveseat and 2 chairs!  Although I'd break up the set, that is an a.maz.ing. deal.  I think the buttons on the cushions may be my favorite part.  Hubby's favorite part would be the carved wood (amIright?).

converted ironing board cabinet

And speaking of what I'm drawn to- I'm working really hard to resist this (because I really don't need it), but how cute is this old cabinet??  I can pretty much guarantee you that it was an old ironing board cabinet that was converted with shelves.  Adorable.  I even love the gray.  Not for this house though, maybe next house.

ironing bench

Did someone say ironing?  I had no idea that this even existed- an iron board bench!  Color me entertained.  $100 sounds like a decent deal for something so unexpected!

I'd better step away from Craigslist now, before I end up stumbling across something that I really can't walk away from.  After a kitchen renovation, my wallet should to take a bit of a vacation.

Have you found any gems (or just ridiculous postings) on Craigslist lately?  I'd love to hear all about it!
