Are you a fan?

...of ceiling fans??  I can honestly say, I am not.   The new house is actually making me think about this topic more than any normal being generally should.  With the house, we inherited a very nice ceiling fan in the living room and an older fan in the kitchen.  We have no central air (YET), so I imagine they prove to be very practical, however I'd rather not look at them!  My big issue is the living room fan.  Brand new with wall controls... and no light.  The ceiling in this space is less than 8' and as you can see, the fan is a dark finish and hangs down over a foot.  In one of the smaller spaces in the house, the fan just closes it in even more!  I have a beautiful light in mind and will post pictures once I order and install it.

How do you feel about ceiling fans in design?  I'd love to hear your comments on the topic!

House pictures coming soon~ they're currently being held hostage on my sisters camera...

I have become consumed with packing, holiday shopping, organizing, and generally acting like a crazy person.  We close on the 21st and am TRYING not to think too much about decorating/design until the house tells me what it wants.  Alas, I'm unsuccessful, so please enjoy a group of images I've collected from other blogs for inspiration.

New life for old stuff. Conclusion.

I know I've been babbling a lot about projects I PLAN to accomplish.  With all my projects approaching in the coming months, I thought I would share with you a past DIY project.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, our current dining table is a rescued piece from my aunt's basement.  Around the time I was moving to my first apartment, my aunt was redoing her kitchen.  Her old dining table (most likely about the age of me) became banished to the basement along with the matching chairs.  I took the table, but abandoned the windsor chairs(not my style whatsoever).  With the finish of the table-top so degraded and damaged, its no wonder that my aunt felt it was time to replace it.  I purchased relatively inexpensive chairs from Target and had lofty plans to refinish the table to match their reddish mocha finish.

It took me almost 4 years, but just about a year ago, I found the time to take my first adventure into furniture stripping.  I couldn't be more pleased with the result!

Hopefully the new house will allow me the opportunity to show you some even greater transformations!
