Cabinets!

DSC04329.jpg

So this is totally happening as we speak. cabinet-install

I'm not giddy or anything though.  Not at all.  I enjoyed not having a kitchen or dining room for 2 weeks.  Enjoyed like one might enjoy a root canal or a termites.

Now that the cabinets are finally a reality, I'm starting to consider the backsplash.  I wasn't planning on doing anything about a backsplash since we already have a 4" silestone backsplash.  Here's a reminder of the counter we are reinstalling:

But I can't get subway tile out of my head.  A bit generic, I know, but add dark grout and you have a feature that honors the age of the house (113+).  Something like this drool-worthy space (via Lingered Upon):

BUT adding tile into the kitchen would add extra cost, so that's where the debate comes in.  Do I reinstall the countertop and backsplash as is, and maybe add tile on top at a later date, or have them just reinstall the countertop but not the backsplash and convince Hubby that tile's the way to go?  Such decisions!!

Don't worry, Wednesday I'll have a non-kitchen related post and hopefully post a reveal of the kitchen work on Friday.  Until then, what's your backsplash vote?  Tile, solid surface or both?

Pin & Tell: Collected Floral

Me and my one track mind are still scrambling plugging along, getting ready for the kitchen install (hopefully this week keep your fingers crossed!), and admittedly haven't focused on much else lately. Instead of boring you with the latest developments about new light fixtures, I figured it's been a while since I shared an amazing room I found on pinterest.

I instantly fell in love with this relaxed, eclectic bedroom when I saw it.  I'm not generally a floraly girly girl, but I'm loving the variety and texture that all the different flowers/patterns introduce.  It's a floral explosion in the best way possible.  And I'm pretty sure I'd die to have that fire place surround- it's sublime.

Seeing that framed floral painting just reminds me that I need to get on it and frame (or clean up frames of) my estate sale art and get it hung.  What am I waiting for?  It's not like I'm renovating a kitchen or anything.... (excuses excuses!)

Anyway... do you love this room as much as I do?

Going Green

My house is very happy.  Or at least it should be- I know I am.  I'm absolutely in love with the new door color. sea-glass-door

Apparently it was exactly 2 years ago (2 years ago tomorrow to be exact) that I last blogged about painting the door.  I enjoyed the cranberry color, but it was starting to feel stuffy and oppressive.  There's nothing stuffy and oppressive about the new color- Sea Glass Green!  Swoon!  (yes, I have a thing for this color)

Hm, I apparently need to straighten the porch light.  And for those paying super-close attention, yes we did kill some of the sod we so lovingly planted last fall.  We're good like that.  But the door!  I heart the door.  Have I mentioned that?  See how nicely it goes with the newly re-done front porch now?

Are you in love with Sea Glass Green as much as I am?
