Snowed in Staging with Chairish

Ah snow days.  The rush to get things done before the snow starts, then the inevitable cleanup and catch up afterwards.  Over at Millie, I've got record amounts of snow to shovel.  Literally.  Yesterday's 33.5" apparently beat the old record by .5"  Luckily, Millie has super amazing neighbors who cleared the front sidewalk for me. Even though there's still quite a bit of work left to do (understatement of the year) before I can list Millie the fliphouse, my mind has already shifted to staging.  I don't want it to sneak up on me at the end and then run out of time to stage it properly.  She deserves better than that.  So when Chairish asked me to put together a styleboard using one of their latest rugs, it was right down my alley.

If you aren't familiar with Chairish, it's an online consignment shop for awesome furniture and decor.  Doesn't sound like anything I'd enjoy, right?

Today I was in the mood for a bit of rustic glamour and chose this Turquoise Overdyed Turkish rug to base my design off of.  I started simple with a few staple pieces:

1.  West Elm, Ainslie Sofa

2.  Serena & Lily, Reese Side Table

3.  Chairish, The Foundry Factory Cart

4.  Target, Carissa Shelter Wing Chair

The fun really comes into this room once you start adding accessories.  I wanted to balance out the rusticity of the wood and patchwork with some sophisticated metallics.

1.  Target, Nate Berkus Geo Printed Resin Tray

2.  Anthropologie, Arca Jewelry Boxes

3.  West Elm, Moorish Tile Printed Curtain

4.  Rejuvination, Merchant Floor Lamp

5.  Anthropologie, Ink Drop Pillow

6.  Tonic Living, Handcut Shapes, Rain Pillow

7.  West Elm, Beaded Corners Pillow Cover

Now I'm itching even more to get to staging!  Have I inspired you too?  Check out their other available rugs for more inspiration.

Mid Week Inspiration

Winter must be a slow time for Craigslist.  With my usual perusing, I haven't been able to find anything worthy of a Craigslisting post or a Make it Work post lately.  Poor showing Craig. Confession: I've been super duper kind of stressing myself out this week about the flip, so I'm in the mood to look at some pretty and inspiring pictures.  We'll return to our usual programing on Friday with some nice flip progress.  Until then, swoon over these.

Updated California Bungalow by Evens Architects via Houzz.  Don't worry, I won't be painting any woodwork in Millie, but isn't this just stunning?

There is so much "yes" here that I would live in this kitchen if given the opportunity.  I wouldn't suddenly discover a love of cooking, I'd probably just be creepy and bring in a blanket and pillow and curl up like a house pet on that amazing floor.  Do herringbone wood floors make anyone else weak in the knees?  If I wanted to fork over $605 a night, I could vacation here via onefinestay

I love a good mix of pattern.  Somehow, this works amazingly due to the variation in scale.  This may actually be a little to much for me to live in, though, but I wouldn't complain with a visit.  It's like a super decadent chocolate cake that is so deliciously chocolatey that you can only have 2 bites before ODing and going into a chocolate coma.  This is that in bathroom form. (from Ensemble Architecture)

And since I have shiplap bathrooms on the brain today (check out my instagram if you're wondering why): plank-walls-in-bathroom-bhg

Nice, pretty, crisp, and clean.  I plan to one up this one cuz, well, why not, but this bathroom from BHG is just pleasant.

Time to dig back into the mess that I call and flip house and power through the rest of the week.  See you Friday!

Warm and Cozy

Well, after walking around NYC sans coat right after Christmas and a 50 degree day at the beginning of the week, we have finally entered New England winter.  AKA flipping cold.  Even inside with the heat on, you can just sense the chill.  Commencing hibernation- see you in the spring!! I kid.  I can't hibernate, someone's gotta fix up Millie and get her on the market!  So until the crocuses start peaking through the inevitable snow piles, I'm going to think warm thoughts.  Right now, I'm drawn to knitting and all things woven like a moth to a flame- they just exude coziness.

Few items of clothing scream COZY like this oversized crocheted infinity scarf from local creative SalemStyle's Etsy shop.

Who doesn't love a good fingerless glove?  If you've answered you, then I don't know if we can be friends.  Warm, smart phone friendly, and ridiculously cute- how can you go wrong?? This pattern is available from Erica Lomax on Ravelry and I might just have to try my hand at it next(pun intended...)

Yes. Please.  This "Sexy Ski Hood" pattern from the 60's is available as a PDF on etsy and yes please.  I could be the perfect little snow bunny with this.  Then after I take it off and still have perfectly coiffed hair, I'll bake Hubby an apple pie. or something.

If you ignore the creepy mannequin face, this hood is probably a bit more realistic for everyday wear.  Instantly make any coat hooded and ready to brave the sideways wind and snow.  This pattern is also available on Ravelry.

For a little bit more fun, I DARE you not to be cozy with a pom pom and ear flaps (from YarnPlusYarn on Etsy).  Plus I have a huge weakness for purple.

I still think, however that no winter weather item is more stylish and versatile than the knit turban.  Fancy enough to keep on inside (to hide your hat hair), but covers your ears and keeps you safe from the biting cold outside.  Vintage PDF pattern also available on etsy.

I need to get to knitting!!  What items are your fave to keep you cozy and cute in the frigid winters?
