Vintage Goodies!

After talking about it for months and months and months, I'm finally deciding to bite the bullet and open an etsy shop of vintagey goodness!  If you follow me on facebook, this isn't new news, but I'm VERY close to having enough inventory to open shop (thanks to a few stellar estate sales and thrift finds) and I'm super duper excited!!  I'll even throw in a few more exclamation points for effect !!!!! Here are a few of the goodies that will be available:

Does the purple glass bowl look familiar?  Its twin is sitting in my office cubbies, but this one I got an amazing deal with a collection of stuff at an estate sale, so if you buy it, we can be purple bowl twinsies!  (sorry, the cheese-o-meter just went off the charts)

I can't divulge all my secrets until the shop's off the ground- I have a few things up my sleeve, but these are a few of my new faves:

vintage safety deposit boxes

vintage driving goggles

Why yes, those are vintage driving goggles and I'm very tempted to just start wearing them around the house.  That wouldn't be weird or anything, right?

Right now I'm a bit stuck on a shop name- all my good ideas have already been taken, so I need to get creative.  Any suggestions?

Get The Paint Ready

My house is officially in a state of chaos for the next few weeks.  I'm almost done with my work on the Zombie Closet and the upper cabinets are in the midst of being packed up and taken down.  I already got a call from Kraftmaid today to confirm my cabinet delivery a week from today between the hours of 7:30 and 10:30 am (squeeeeeee!!!).  Barely-functioning kitchen cabinets are almost a thing of the past!!!  I wonder what it'll be like to have a kitchen that works exactly like we need it to..... Daydreaming aside, some of you already saw on facebook/instagram that I'm up to my old furniture adoption habits again.  Cuz our house can totally fit more furniture... (read: our house can't fit any more furniture, but I'm gonna try anyway).  I went to the thrift store with Mom to donate some items, and this guy just called to me.

Isn't the wood fretwork dreamy?  It's like the Michael Bublé of china cabinets.

And since I don't already have enough unfinished projects, let's add this one to the list- this puppy's getting painted.  (note to self: get to finishing projects already!)  As you can probably tell in the pics, the wood isn't in amazing condition, so I'll have no qualms painting it.  Replacing those fake brass '80s knobs won't be a tough decision either.

Now I just need to settle on a color.  White's a bit too shabby-chic/beachy for my room so I'm thinking of either a medium gray or a light mint (or maybe even both- who's with me?)

Patio Mission

I'll admit, I'm kind of at a loss about what to write today.  I have several project in progress, but no finished results to show yet.  The yard is being cleaned out and mulched, the porch will be getting paint in the very near future, chalkboard spray paint is being sprayed, and I've been spending a lot of time on Craiglist. I always pop onto Craigslist to look for cheap treasures, but currently, I'm on a mission.

Craigslist Mission- Find a bench for the pack patio.

Our back yard is all patio and gardens.  We have a table and chairs and a grill (which escaped the instagram shot below- its just outside the frame on the right).  We had old wicker chairs there previously, but they disintegrated this year after spending the winter outside.

Lately I've been thinking that with the English garden feel of the space, a nice bench in front of the giant hydrangea would look amazing.  So I've been scouring Craigslist and not quite finding what I want.

I love this one, but Hubby doesn't.  It also might be a bit too much.

I keep toying with the idea of buying a bench like this

or this

and painting it to protect it from the elements, but I just can't bring myself to put such a gorgeous piece of furniture outside.  Plus everything seems to be about an hour away.

What I really want is a teak(ish) bench made for outside that has some design interest too it.  How dare Craigslist not have exactly what I want when I want it! #firstwordproblems

It's been less than a week hunting on Craigslist, but I'm about to ragequit and drop just a little bit more money to get something new at HomeGoods.  I'm going to try and hold off on my impatience and give Craigslist another chance.

Have you had any Craigslist luck lately?
